Top 5 Halloween Movies

Tomorrow it is Halloween so the perfect time to watch some scary movies. I’ve made a list of 5 movies in no order to give you some inspiration in what to watch. No matter if you go to a Halloween party and want to watch some movies after or just celebrate it at home with a movie marathon, have a Happy Halloween!

Sweeney Todd Halloween movies
Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd is a very scary/horror/bloody kind of movie which is also a musical (!) based in a Dark London setting. It’s my absolute favourite movie with Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Sascha Boron Cohen and a couple more faces which you might know already. The movie is about Benjamin Barker who is back in London to take revenge, because of all the injustice that is done to him. I feel like this is such an underrated movie which should be much more out there. It has all the feels and is such a tragic story! And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to see Alan Rickman – for those who don’t know, Severus Snape himself – and Johnny Depp singing.

Corpse Bride Halloween Movies
Corpse Bride

An animated movie, but therefore not less scary. Especially the whole idea after the movie. It starts with a young man practicing his wedding vows, not knowing there’s a deceased young woman around who assumes he has married her and rises from her grave. There’s so much fantasy in this movie. I think you might even like it when you are not a fan of animated movies.

Frankenweenie Halloween movies
Frankenweenie

The third on my list, although they are not in a particular order is Frankenweenie, also an animated movie. We all know the concept of Frankenstein about a doctor who recreates a human from different body parts. This movie however is about a boy who is so heartbroken when his dog dies, that he tries to recreate what dr. Frankenstein did. I have to admit that this was almost a tear up movie for me. Everyone who has a dog or has lost one will probably recognize that. Watch the trailer here.

The Woman in Black
The Woman in Black

The Woman in Black is a supernatural movie that is based on the book of Susan Hill. One that I absolutely loved! When I heard there was a movie in the making I of course had to see it. The story is about a lawyer, Arthur Kipps, who travels to a remote village to take care of some paperwork. But then some unusual things happen in the village which makes his easy task suddenly become a matter of life and death.. This movie is such a good thriller – I call it a thriller because I find horror more blood/gore and this movie is without that – with many scary moments. And a big plus of course because it has Daniel Radcliffe as the headcharacter. If you want to have a good scare with a lot of moments where your pillow becomes your best friend then this is the movie to watch.

Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhands

Last but not least, Edward Scissorhands. I mention this movie as the last one because let’s face it. It’s a dark movie but it also has romance and a lot of cuteness in it. This movie might be the least scary one to watch, but is still a very fun one to see around Halloween. The story is about Edward Scissorhands who has, as you might have guessed from the title, scissors as hands. He is a kind and gentle man, but one who has always lived in isolation. Until he gets brought into a new community.

For the ones who paid close attention, yes I am a huge fan of the movies by Tim Burton. Even more when they are with Johnny Depp in them 😉 Hopefully you have gotten some inspiration for what to watch when you are in a scary mood.

Ja ? Crimson Peak ook helemaal niet aan gedacht, die was ook erg goed. Haha Beetlejuice vond ik ook top, denk wel dat veel mensen die nu jammer genoeg oud vinden.
